Holadeira
It's pink and playful, a cryptid with real curves. Roll those R's and come on this Amazonian adventure with us!
EX-CRYPTID
The sad tale of Ape Man Oliver is a case of strange but true. When he swept onto the scene in 1976, he baffled scientists and gawkers alike with his peculiar features. Shaped like a chimpanzee, Oliver also has very human characteristics such as a receded jaw, bald head, round ears and freckles. Was this a human ape hybrid? A missing link? For years, Oliver was the mascot for a strange creature unknown to science. |
Spoiler alert, he was just a chimpanzee. A chimpanzee who would have a tortured life of sideshows, testing and physical abuse. However there is a happy ending here, once Oliver was definitively proven to be a simple chimpanzee, he was allowed to retire in peace with a hot chimp girlfriend called Raisin.
More Info
The Amazon is home to any number of bizarre creatures, many of whom (yep) remain a mystery even to this day. The Holadeira is a Cryptid that is as cool as it's star eyewitness. New species or injured animal?
WHAT IS IT
In the murky waters of the Amazon Basin in Brazil, something peculiar swims. Believed to be of the dolphin family, the Holadeira is a large, smooth creature with pink-grey skin. Think the Boto River but with a difference. The Holadeira's feature characteristic are a series of jagged spikes that run down its back. In fact, in Portuguese "Holadeira" which means “saws”. FOLKLORE This cryptid is so rare that there is no folklore around the animal. One may think this lends itself to being less believable, well one may be wrong! SIGHTINGS As mentioned above, all we know about this creature comes from just one key man. But not just any man! This is Jeremy Wade, (insert silly intro he gives himself). It was the year 1993 and Jeremy was in the Amazon looking for the elusive Boto River Dolfins. As he scanned the waters surface he was surprised to see something he has never seen before. It was the Holadeira! |
After this remarkable encounter, Jeremy asked around to uncover more information, but little was known about the mysterious creature. As luck would have it, Jeremy was also due to leave the very next day but made a promise to return to the jungle rivers and find more proof of this rare animal.
The very next year in 1994, Jeremy was back with camera in hand. As he made his way on the water once more he spotted the Holadeira. In amongst a pod of Boto dolphins, the animal surfaced a few times and Jeremy two photos. The photos show a distinct row of saw-like spikes on the animals back that Jeremy describes as smooth and even. |
